As ever and always, Marc found us some wonderful places to stay on this trip!
We start off just outside Chiang Mai for a couple of nights, at Baansuwanburi, which should do nicely to ease us out of the strangeness of the long journey:

From there we'll stay in Chiang Mai at the Maladee Rendezvous Hotel for five nights:

Our next stop will be in Chiang Khan, for five nights at the Riverside Pool Villa. We'll have the whole villa to ourselves, with a pool around on the other side:

A short drive away, we'll be in Pak Chom for two nights, at the Mekong Villas, a new spot along the Mekong River for us:

As we make our way south, to the coast, we'll stop for a night at the Banbua Grand Udon, in Udon Thani, where we are staying primarily because of the great restaurants.

Then we get to Trat, where we'll stay overnight before catching a ferry the next morning. We stayed at this little boutique hotel before, the Rimklong Boutique Hotel. It's convenient, and it's near the market, too.

Every trip, we have to take at least one boat ride in one form or another -- often a ferry, as it is here. We'll take the ferry out to Koh Kood, where we'll hide out at the Hideout for five nights, the last big stay of our trip.

From there we head to Bangkok for our last night-ish, where we'll stay at The Quarter Ladprao, not our usual kind of hotel but it serves several purposes.
